Or so the calendar would have us believe. I’ll believe it when I see it...
Spring is such an exciting time for many reasons, one of which is that antique hunting starts to become a routine weekend pastime for us around this time of year.
Speaking of which, one "must visit" destination opens in about a month on April 28th – the Aberfoyle Antique Market. Open every Sunday until the end of October, this amazing place spans 20 acres filled with open air booths occupied by over 100 individuals and dealers. This diversity means you'll find a wide variety of items from furniture to cookery to knick knacks, at pretty much any price point. There is food available, and even a small playground for the kids. The $2 gate fee is well worth it even if you end up empty handed.
Last year we visited with a mission of finding a specifically sized side table for our living room. We ended up with the perfect piece- a solid walnut table with the perfect amount of "wear" on it for our tastes... all for the humble sum of $30! We also picked up a great wire basket that sits perfectly underneath the table for about $10. By the way, when visiting an antique market you know you've done well when other people stop you to try and buy your new purchases from you, or pick them up when you sit them down to look at something :P
Anyway, if you have a sunny Sunday to spare you’ll definitely want to hit up this marketplace. See map below!
Oh ps. don’t forget the small antique shop directly across the road– you can’t miss it.
